There was a great article in today's Register Guard about Springfield Oregon resident and Olympic runner Nick Symmonds. Although he's known for his world class speed, the Springfield community recognized Symmonds' work with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and gave him the key to the city.
Symmonds said of living in Springfield, "This community has everything I need to perform to the best of my ability." He plans to train right here as he prepares for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. "Springfield is a beautiful city," he said. "But when I think of Springfield, I think of my neighbors."

It looks like a gorgeous week of Summer weather ahead of us!
As the national Real Estate market continues to wind down, the market here in the Eugene and Springfield area also continues to cool. At this time, the pace of our slow down does not seem to be as strong as many parts of the country. Inventories of homes for sale and average days on the market in our market continue to be less than many major U.S. Real Estate market areas. What happens between now and Fall should give us an idea as to where our market will be heading for the next six months. The opportunity here for home buyers has not been better for years, yet few are taking advantage of the lower home prices, the attractive mortgage interest rates and excellent home inventories.

HOME SALES MARKET REALITY
The home market in the Eugene and Springfield, Oregon area in Janaury of 2007 is certainly not in line with what is taking place in the national market. Statistics show that through the end of the 2006 year our area realized a home price value increase of 13.4%. This kind of value increase is not the norm for most of the United States at this time.
