River Road Real Estate and Community Info

The River Road neighborhood is a vibrant community located along the west bank of the Willamette River. The area draws its name from the main thoroughfare that connects its residents with other areas of Eugene, and is home to North Eugene High School.

Shopping and Dining

River Road area includes a variety of grocery and general purpose retailers, mainly along River Road. However, bordering the neighborhood you will find plenty of great shopping such as Fred Meyer and the Valley River Center Mall, located across the river.

Residents will find a wide range of dining options in the River Road neighborhood. International delights from Mongolian, Asian, Hawaiian, Mexican, Greek and Mediterranean restaurants are sure to please any palate. Pizza Hut and Countryside Pizza are two of the five available choices for great pizza in the area. Additional neighborhood options include a number of national eateries, such as Wendy’s, Arby’s, Carl’s Jr., and McDonald’s.

Parks and Recreation

Emerald Park lies at the center of the River Road area and features a state-of-the-art swim and fitness center, which offers activities and lessons for people of all ages.  Another popular River Road recreation area is Rasor Park, comprising 10 acres along the banks of the Willammette River and offering areas for walking, cycling, bird-watching, picnicking and more. 

The River Road Parks and Recreation District adds a lot of value for Eugene Oregon residents. The neighborhood’s community focus has made River Road one of the most desired areas for Eugene Oregon Real Estate.

Living

River Road real estate is mostly comprised of single-family houses that were developed around the 1960s, however, the neighborhood's real estate spans many decades and price ranges. Most houses for sale in the River Road area are medium-sized, ranging from 2 to 4 bedrooms. Median home price for 2013 is approximately $182,500.

Schools, Health, and Transportation

Children in the area are served by the Eugene 4J School District. Adult students are able to attend one of the state’s most popular public universities: The University of Oregon.

Eugene’s Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend provides acute care and emergency services to area residents.

River Road is approximately 10 minutes from downtown Eugene. Lane Transit Distrcit or LTD operates buses throughout the area. Though small, the Eugene Airport offers easy access to domestic and international connections. Domestic travel also is available through Amtrak.
